How to buy electricity online for your Citiq Prepaid meter

Tenants using Citiq Prepaid meters can buy prepaid electricity tokens in a variety of ways, ensuring tenants can recharge 24 hours a day at many convenient locations countrywide. We also have online partners and tokens may be purchased through a variety of online systems, including banks, as well as our own portal.

What you need to know
In order to buy tokens online and receive your token number via SMS, register as a tenant on our vending system. Please note Citiq Prepaid only dispenses electricity tokens for meters managed by us. We do not dispense tokens for Municipal or Eskom meters.

Your online or mobile banking app

The online or mobile banking app option currently works for those who have accounts with FNB, Absa, Standard Bank, Nedbank, Capitec and Investec and are registered for online banking. If you are unsure whether you’re registered or not, we suggest contacting your bank directly.

  1. Navigate through the app to the ‘Buy’ button and then the ‘electricity’ button.
  2. Follow the prompts and once complete you will receive your 20 digital token via the app or SMS.
  3. Punch the number into your prepaid electricity meter.
