HOW TO BUY
Prepaid electricity tokens can be bought in a variety of ways to ensure tenants can recharge 24 hours a day at many convenient locations countrywide.

Please note Citiq Prepaid only dispenses electricity tokens for meters managed by us. We do not dispense tokens for Municipal or Eskom meters. The following options exist for purchasing tokens. Please be aware that the cost of the payment methods vary, and that EFT, credit card and i-Pay is by far the cheapest option.
Citiq Prepaid Website (Credit card or i-Pay)
Ensure you are registered with Citiq Prepaid on the website. If you need assistance with this, please call the call centre on 087 55 111 55.
Log in, select New Purchase and then choose either credit card or the i-Pay EFT payment option.
When you select the credit card option, you will be redirected to the VCS Payment Gateway where you need to enter your credit card details.
Selecting the i-Pay option you will be directed to the i-Pay secure payment page where you need to select your bank, and log in to your bank with your online banking details.
Once the transaction is complete you will receive an SMS with your token number. Punch the number into your prepaid electricity meter.
If you have a FLASH vendor in your area you can buy your tokens directly from them. They will need your meter number and will provide you with your token number on a printed slip.
Retail stores are able to provide UniPIN vouchers to purchase Citiq Prepaid tokens. UniPIN vouchers require that you sms your meter & voucher number to the telephone number provided as per the instructions on the UniPIN voucher. Please take care in doing this, since sms’ing the wrong meter number cannot be reversed.
Electronic Funds Transfer/ Cash Deposit
Ensure you are registered with Citiq Prepaid so that we can sms you the 20 digit token number.
Deposit funds into Citiq Prepaid’s FNB account:

Once the funds reflect in the account you will receive an SMS with your token number.
Please be aware we can only process the purchase once the funds clear. This can take up to 24 hours for inter-bank and even FNB-to-FNB needs a day to clear for payments on a Sunday.
USSD for Cellphone Banking
Ensure you are registered for your bank’s cellphone banking service.
Use the following USSD codes to initiate the purchase and the follow the prompts
Standard Bank: *120*2345#
Once the transaction is complete you will receive an SMS with your token number
If you bank with Nedbank, you can purchase your token directly from a Nedbank ATM. Simply follow the instructions on the ATM for making prepaid electricity purchases.
