Please note that Citiq Prepaid only dispenses electricity tokens for meters managed by ourselves. We do not dispense tokens for Municipal or Eskom meters.

The following options exist for purchasing tokens. Please be aware that the cost of the payment methods vary, and that EFT is by far the cheapest option.

Speedpay

SpeedPay is a quick, fast, safe and free way to pay on-line, using your own bank account.

You make an EFT using your 11 digit meter number as the reference to SpeedPay’s account with your bank. Tokens are then available within minutes by calling 087 354 5566.

ATM's

If you bank with Nedbank or FNB, you can purchase your token directly from a Nedbank or FNB ATM. Simply follow the instruction on the ATM for making prepaid electricity purchases.

FLASH Vendors

If you have a FLASH vendor in your area you can buy your tokens directly from them. They will need you meter number and will provide you with your token number on a printed slip.

Cigicell UniPin

Retail stores that support Cigicell payments are able to provide UniPin vouchers to purchase Citiq Prepaid tokens. UniPin vouchers require that you sms your meter & voucher number to the telephone number provided as per the instructions on the UniPin voucher. Please take care in doing this, since sms'ing the wrong meter number cannot be reversed.

Easypay

Retail stores that support Easypay payments are able to provide Citiq Prepaid tokens. Major Easypay retail stores are all Pick 'n Pay stores, Checkers, Shoprite, Boxer and many others. Please check the Retailer's link for available stores. Remember to take your 11 digit meter number or magnetic meter card with you.

Electronic Funds Transfer / Cash Deposit

To deposit money into our account you need to set up Citiq Prepaid as a recipient on your internet banking and use your 11 digit meter number as the reference. It is also a good idea to create a Profile as described below to have the token sms'd to you when the funds clear in our account.

When the EFT clears in our bank account, Citiq Prepaid will generate a token for the transferred amount. If you've created a Profile with this meter number (see below) an SMS will be sent your your cellphone with your 20 digit token.

Alternatively, you can send us an SMS on 31371 and we will reply with your 20 digit token. Please remember to allow at least a day for the money to clear in our bank account.

Did you know?
At any time you can SMS your meter number to 31371 to retrieve your last valid token.

Create a Profile

To access your transaction history, purchase via the website or get your tokens sms'd to you automatically, you will need to sign up on the Citiq Prepaid website and create a Profile:

  • Click on “Sign-up” on the Citiq Prepaid homepage
  • Enter the required information and click on 'Submit'
  • You can then log in to the site to purchase tokens, view past tokens and check your transaction history.

Note that it is possible to link more than one meter number to your profile should you wish to purchase tokens on someone else’s behalf.

Credit Card, SID Instant EFT and cellphone purchases

To purchase tokens via Credit Card, Cell Pay Point or SID for your meter you will first need to create a Profile as described below. In part of the sign-up process you will link you meter number to your Profile.

You can then log in from the homepage. Click on Purchase Tokens to purchase via Credit Card, Cell Pay Point or SID Instant EFT and follow the on-screen instructions.You will also be able to check your past purchases.
