Our Installation policy
This policy outlines how Citiq Meter Solutions (Pty) Ltd (referred to as “Citiq Prepaid”, “we”, “us” or “our” in this policy) governs the installation of its prepaid submeters after purchase.
Who may install prepaid meters
We do not offer installation services for prepaid meters and are not responsible for third-party installers’ service quality.
Once someone has bought a prepaid electricity or water submeter (called a “prepaid meter” in this policy) from one of our resellers (hardware wholesalers or retail stores who resell our prepaid meters), a third-party professional would need to install the prepaid meter on a property.

A licenced electrician may install a prepaid electricity meter

A licenced plumber may install a prepaid water meter
*In South Africa, electricians are licenced by the Department of Labour (anyone can check electricians’ licences on the Electrical Conformance Board of SA’s website), and the Plumbing Industry Registration Board licences plumbers.
Electricians or plumbers typically purchase the right prepaid electricity or water meter from one of our resellers to install at a property. In some cases, property owners and body corporates (or their agents, such as managing agents), would purchase a prepaid meter directly and give it to the electrician or plumber to install. The professional installing the prepaid meter remains responsible for making sure it is installed correctly.
Our prepaid meters come with a few credits already loaded onto them. This allows the professional installer to confirm that the prepaid meter works (for example, the lights are on, or the water is flowing).
Governing law and jurisdiction
This policy is governed by the laws of South Africa and falls under the jurisdiction of the High Court of the Republic of South Africa (Western Cape Division, Cape Town).
